UAI Qualifies and Competes for a 250-Unit Affordable Housing Complex on behalf of CAMBA Housing Ventures: Camba Gardens Phase II

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013

UAI recently qualified to compete in the design of a multifamily residential complex, re-imagining the site of a psychiatric facility on the Kings County Hospital campus in Flatbush, Brooklyn.  Working together with Liz Farrell, landscape architect, UAI envisioned CAMBA Gardens Phase II as 250 residential units and community spaces around a central open garden space; the focal point for the residences, with gently rolling topography and circulation pathways throughout.

Mindful of the negative connotations of the existing building, UAI’s envisioned space seeks to “Release the Spirits”; bringing new life to the site.

Bright in Brownsville

Monday, February 11th, 2013

UAI recently completed a proposal for a new 9-story mixed-use building in Brownsville, Brooklyn, containing 90 units of senior housing, a geriatric clinic and a community-oriented recreational facility.

The project is being developed with several neighborhood-affiliated organizations, including the Borough Development Group, the Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corporation, SKA Marin Real Estate Development and Consulting, the Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center, and the YMCA of Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The building’s predominantly masonry facade respects the local context, while the two-story street facade employs bright colors and ample windows to provide a welcoming presence to the neighborhood.
