UAI congratulates its very own Hasan Bahar for earning his registration as a New York State Architect. This is no small achievement, but ever competitive, Hasan had to outdo everyone else; he is unofficially, the youngest registered architect in the state.

UAI is pleased to announce Jorge Chang is now a principal of the firm, as of January 1st 2016

Jorge Chang has been a member of UAI for the past ten years. From the start he quickly was promoted to project manager, and then associate manager. Since then, Jorge has overseen
the completion of several buildings, ranging from, rehabilitation of a buildings to new construction. Jorge is a LEED certified professional and a volunteer for Columbia’s
Graduate School of Architecture as a design critic. Before joining the firm, he worked as a systems engineer, specializing in lighting design, lighting control systems, and architectural integration of audio, video, security, and control elements to private luxury residential homes, hotels, offices, and commercial spaces. Jorge is a graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo.

Candidates must be able to work in a team environment and manage staff, clients, consultants and contractors on multiple projects at one time. UAI is pleased to announce that Alen Moghaddam and Akiko Kyei-Aboagye are now

principals of the firm, as of January 1, 2014.

Alen has been with us for a decade, overseeing the completion of numerous supportive housing facilities, leading them from concept through to construction. Over the years, he has gained extensive familiarity with government agency requirements that support these projects including HPD, HHAP, OMH, and OASAS. He enriches the firm with a detailed, hands on approach to all his work and an understanding of current technology. Alen is a graduate of Pratt Institute.

Akiko has been with UAI for eight years. Her meticulous approach has ensured the successful completion of several notable buildings. She is a LEED accredited professional, supporting the firm’s efforts to seamlessly integrate sustainability into all projects, large and small.  She has also served as a member of the NYC Department of Buildings’ Technical Code Review Committee on Accessibility, championing the interests of the supportive housing community as well as lending her analytical skills to this effort to streamline the building code. Akiko is a graduate of Columbia University.

UAI Staff Visits Exhibits on Architecture at New York’s MOMA

UAI Staff took a brief pause from their busy work and social calendars to visit MOMA, where two exhibits on architecture were featured:  Henri Labrouste: Structure Brought to Light and Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes.  Thanks to Associate Akiko Kyei-Aboagye, AIA, LEED AP for extending to staff her MOMA membership.
