UAI Spring Open House Enjoyed By All

UAI held a lovely Spring Open House on Thursday April 25th, 2013, coincidentally, one day after the Centennial anniversary celebration of The Woolworth Building. The fabulous party featured colorful spring flowers, a multi-screen slide show of recent work, passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks, cheese plate and crudités.  Not to mention lots of great conversation with esteemed and honored guests.  Spotify DJ’d through speakers from staff selection and the good time vibe on a fine Spring evening was universal.

The words today at Shiloh Senior Residence ribbon cutting ceremony attended by New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, and representatives from; HUD, HCR, Enterprise Community Partners, Raymond James, all on the financing end; and numerous other partners lead by Westhab Inc. and Shiloh CDC as developers, and Sisca-Mengler JV as contractors.

This residence is fully occupied with forty seniors who have access to a social room, a workout room, lounges and laundry on each floor and a beautifully landscaped garden with gazebo.

Prospero Hall Ready For Foundation Work

Three months of NYC Gneiss, three broken drill bits, and now ready for foundation work. To mitigate rock removal, foundation wall footings were raised 11 inches in height, but still elevator pit and trenches for underground piping had to be excavated.

Soundview Is Moving Along & Ahead Of Schedule

Soundview is moving along with the east and north façade Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) and metal panels complete. The project is slated for completion in early May, 5 months ahead of schedule.

Brick Complete and Windows Installed at 880 Tinton Avenue, Bronx, NY

880 Tinton Avenue, a 4-story building in the Bronx for Odyssey House, is on schedule with masonry brick complete and windows installed.  Sixty-five studios and common spaces embrace the many programs that are part of the recovery and development process for the tenants.  Simple energy conservation features are planned for the building in order to continue Odyssey House’s aim to provide a sustainable, healthy environment for its staff and tenants.



Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Shiloh Senior Housing, New Rochelle, NY on March 12th

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the opening of Shiloh Senior Housing, New Rochelle, NY  is taking place Tuesday March 12th.  Shiloh Senior Housing is a collaboration between Westhab and Shiloh CDC to develop a 40-unit residence in New Rochelle, NY.  Funded by HUD, The City of New Rochelle, and HCR, the sustainable building is 45,000sf and 5-stories, designed in a Tudor style to reflect the surrounding neighborhood’s characteristics.

Urban Architectural Initiatives, RA, P.C. (UAI) is proud to announce that we have received a CAGE (Commercial And Government Entity) Code (6U3M8) which will allow us to pursue federal contract work.

Now, in addition to designing for federally-funded residences for seniors (Shiloh and Coretta Scott King projects) and veterans (Prospero Hall), UAI is pursuing contracts directly with the federal government. Presently, we team and sub-contract on Residential, Civic & Cultural, Historic Restoration and Commercial projects for New York and the tri-state area and anticipate doing so on federal projects.  We are seeking to create partnership opportunities on federal projects with other firms.
