In her work at UAI, Mai has assisted on the design and development of various affordable and supportive housing projects throughout New York City, ranging from feasibility studies to construction administration. Among some of the prominent projects that Mai has worked on are the design and development of the Islamic Center of Long Island and a second floor addition to a landmark building in the Bronx overlooking Yankee Stadium. Drawing on her experience working for the Department of Transportation in California performing various project management and construction administration tasks, Mai never loses sight of how her work will impact the end user. This practical influence on her design ethos is of particular importance for UAI’s work serving communities that are underserved, requiring durable, thoughtful architectural solutions.
