White Plains Road Residence is a newly proposed residential building in the Williamsbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, being developed by WellLife Network and CSD Housing. The eight-story, 100,000-square-foot building will offer 136 supportive and affordable units. The building is designed to be an elegant transition between two 8-story buildings at a bend on White Plains Road. The street façade is divided into two complementary parts on either side of this bend. One section is an eight-story brick dormer elevation with variegated windows that transition from vertical to horizontal, creating an illusion of movement. This is balanced by a six-story, rainscreen portion with vertical windows, curved to provide a setback for the building at the central entry point, drawing people in. At this intersection, a sliver of glazing provides southern light to the laundry and corridors on each floor.  The light and airy colors create a sophisticated and welcoming appearance.

The building features a spacious rear yard with recreational amenities for the residents, including passive seating areas connected to the interior community room and offices, a community gardening area, and separate play areas for children two to five years and five to twelve years of age. A bio-retention planting area with bedrock outcrops is designed around the circulation to address the site’s stormwater retention working with the natural site topography. The rear yard also has 21 vehicle parking spaces, including three with EV charging stations and covered bike parking outfitted with e-bike charging stations.

The on-site programming for the building includes a community room and pantry, an exercise room, counseling offices, a bicycle parking room, and a lobby with a concierge desk, mail, and seating areas. Laundry rooms and seating areas are available on each floor for ease of access. The building will qualify for certification through Enterprise Green Communities and the NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program, with a high-efficiency building envelope, MEP systems, and solar photovoltaic system, among its many green and resilient features.
