Previous Project|Next Project52 East 126th Street is a supportive and affordable housing development by Odyssey House, funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health and the NYS Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP). The project includes 21 studio units within a five-story, 15,000 SF building, with dedicated program and support spaces. It will provide supportive housing for single adults with special needs as well as affordable units for low-income residents.
Conceived as an urban infill project, the building replaces two deteriorated brownstones on a block characterized by historic four-story rowhouses in East Harlem. The new design thoughtfully responds to its context: a contemporary façade and fenestration pattern inspired by traditional brownstone proportions, expressed through rainscreen cladding, cast-stone detailing, and a modern yet respectful architectural language.
The result is a carefully integrated addition to the neighborhood – honoring its past while advancing Odyssey House’s mission to serve the community’s evolving needs.
